Seven to bring free linear streaming of their channels online

This week, Seven announced that they will commence live-streaming of its three broadcast television channels – Seven, 7TWO and 7mate – across all delivery platforms and in all Seven-owned capital cities and regions from 1 December – available 24/7.

Currently, Seven has already been live streaming it’s news bulletins to anyone with an internet connection, and has also started streaming Sunrise and The Morning show to anyone interested in watching.

ABC has been doing something similar with ABC News 24 – you can watch the live stream via the ABC apps, ABC website or even YouTube. However, Seven improves on this by showing all of their channels online – ABC does not stream ABC1, ABC2 or ABC3.

Foxtel already provides live streaming of the majority of their channels through Foxtel Go, or Foxtel Play, but not free to air channels.

There have been some edge cases where FTA channels have been available for streaming – ABC and SBS are included with Mobile Foxtel for example (since 2010).
TPG have also provided live streaming to a handful of customers (dependant on their local exchange)

I’m really excited by the opportunity to watch Channel Seven from any internet connected device, without access to a TV, and hopefully we see more channels jump onboard. (and our mobile data caps boosted too!)
